Does your record fit the NIV?

The National Innovation visa (subclass 858) is an invitation-only permanent visa for people with internationally recognised exceptional achievements in a profession, sport, the arts, or academia and research.

Entrepreneurs and innovative investors need relevant achievement and contribution evidence. Funds or company formation alone do not establish eligibility. Review verifiable achievements, current prominence, Australian plans and an eligible nominator. An invitation is not visa approval.

Age, English and family requirements

Applicants under 18 or aged 55 and above must show exceptional benefit to the Australian community. This additional requirement matters when assessing eligibility.

For applicants aged 18 and above, review functional English evidence and the official second-instalment charge arrangements. Family members, health, character and document requirements need separate checks.

Invitation process and consultation

EOI, invitation and visa application

Submit through the dedicated Home Affairs NIV EOI process and wait for an invitation. An EOI remains active for two years, does not guarantee an invitation and does not grant a bridging visa.

If invited, apply through ImmiAccount within 60 days with the completed Form 1000 and evidence. Check the latest government processing-time guide. No fixed timeframe or approval rate is promised.

Share a short background summary

Tell our Hong Kong team your field, main achievements, current residence and family goals. No passport or asset-document upload is needed for an initial enquiry. Before document review, clarify the purpose, responsible adviser, service scope and fees.
