Start with your occupation, employer and region
DAMA can be relevant when an eligible employer in a designated region needs to sponsor a worker. It is a regional labour agreement framework. Applications can use the subclass 482 Skills in Demand, subclass 494 or subclass 186 programmes under the applicable agreement. Selecting a region or finding an occupation on a list does not itself establish visa eligibility.
Concessions must fit your case
Age, English, experience and salary concessions depend on the region, occupation, agreement and visa stream. A quoted age of 55, IELTS 5.0 or a salary discount is not a rule that applies to every applicant. Assess the current requirements against documents you can actually provide.
Employer sponsorship comes first
The employer generally needs endorsement from the designated area representative before requesting a DAMA labour agreement. The business and worker must then satisfy the relevant nomination and visa requirements. There is no independent DAMA visa that a worker obtains merely by choosing a region.
Review temporary stay and permanent residence separately
A temporary or provisional visa should not be presented as an automatic grant of permanent residence. Any later permanent residence pathway has its own requirements and timing. Review the visa actually available, your obligations and any family applications before making work or relocation commitments.
What to prepare for an initial assessment
Begin with your occupation and duties, qualifications, years of relevant work, English results, current visa status and preferred region. Tell us whether you already have an employer or an offer. Mention accompanying family and any previous visa refusal. You do not need to upload a passport or financial records in the initial enquiry.
Understand the budget before you decide
Ask for a written explanation of the proposed work and the costs that apply to your case. Keep government fees, professional services, assessments, translation, travel and household costs separate. Employer endorsement, a labour agreement, nomination and visa approval are different steps. Do not treat a preliminary discussion as a job offer or approval.
Plan a practical next step
Use your first consultation to identify the evidence gaps, the region and occupation to check, and the responsibilities of the applicant and employer. Where a regulated professional or another provider is needed, confirm the provider and scope before proceeding. The Department of Home Affairs decides visa applications.

DAMA: Questions to review before applying
Can I use DAMA if I am over 45?
Age concessions depend on the occupation, region, agreement and visa stream. Review your actual circumstances; an employer match alone does not guarantee eligibility or permanent residence.
Does every DAMA accept IELTS 5.0?
No. Check the current English requirements and any occupation-specific concessions under the relevant agreement and visa stream.
Can I apply without an employer?
DAMA operates through eligible employers and the applicable labour agreement process. Start by checking the employer position as well as your occupation and qualifications.
Will a DAMA application guarantee a job or permanent residence?
No. Employment, endorsement, nomination and visa approval are separate matters. Any later permanent residence option has its own conditions.
What does an initial consultation cover?
Discuss your occupation, duties, qualifications, work history, English and preferred region. Identify missing evidence and the next requirements to check before making commitments.
How are costs explained?
Ask for the actual scope and separate government, professional, assessment, translation and household costs. Confirm responsibilities and payment stages in writing before engagement.
